GPScycle Land's End to John o' Groats on the National Cycle Network Are you up for a challenge? This is the route for a 12-day, 1250-mile challenge which will start from Land's End on 27 August 2007. If you'd like to join us for all or part of the ride please register here. Places are limited to eight riders per section. We are raising money for ruralnet|uk's Participation Fund and other charities. The route will use the National Cycle Network and this is the first time this has been attempted. This site contains the details of each stage of the route which have been prepared using the Anquet Maps system. The Participation Ride 2007 blog is logging the project as it develops. Using the maps Use the drop-down menu to the left to select the stage you are interested in. Alternatively, to open the route in a new window, click on the orange map pin that marks the start of the route you want (note the route goes from the south to the north) and click the link in the pop-up label. To investigate the route, use the controls in the top left to zoom in and out. Note that the scale in the bottom left changes as you do this. Use the arrow controls or click and hold the left mouse button to move the map around. The coordinates of the cross-hair in the centre of the map are shown in the bottom left. To find the coordinates of a particular location move the map around so that the location you are interested in is under the cross-hair. You can turn the cross-hair on and off by clicking on the coordinates box. Change from map to satellite and hybrid views using the drop down menu in the top right. If the route you are interested in isn't there, come back again soon as routes are going up all the time. Go to stage one>> Can you contribute? Have you cycled any of the routes with your GPS switched on? If you have, please email me the tracklog. ![]() Simon Berry The Participation Ride |
